The Carrollton Pre-K Newsletter

October 2007

Dear Parents, or guardian,

The children are settling into Pre-K nicely. They are learning the rules and routines, to share and to take turns, and to clean up after themselves. Currently, our theme is “Fall” and we are exploring, discovering, and discussing fall colors, apples, and pumpkins.

October Events:

  • NO SCHOOL Monday, October 8 (Columbus Day)

SCHOOL PICTURES-Wednesday October 3
We will be going to the grade school to get our picture taken.

FIELD TRIP-Eckerts Pumpkin Patch Thursday October 11
The cost is $5.00 per child which includes a hayride, pumpkin, and petting zoo. Please return the money in an envelope BEFORE October 9th. Parents are encouraged to join us. We will be taking a bus.

HALLOWEEN PARTY- Wednesday, October 31

We are going to start decorating our T-shirts to wear to the Pumpkin Patch

Jackets & Clothing
Cooler weather is here! Be sure your child has a coat to wear outside to play. Unless it is raining, we will go outside to play everyday. Furthermore, if you sent cooler clothing for a change of clothes, (shorts, tank tops…etc.) please consider taking these articles home and supplying a warmer change of clothes in case of accident.

HALLOWEEN
Halloween is approaching fast. We need to realize that Halloween can be scary for young children. They cannot always distinguish between real and make-believe yet. We need to help children realize that there are real people under the costumes and masks, and they are only pretending to be scary or strange. Even a clown can be very scary because it is strange looking and something they are not used to seeing.

We will be having a Halloween party on Wednesday, October 31. The children may wear or bring costumes if they would like. We will parade around the high school, visiting several classrooms to show off costumes. If you would like to bring treats or help with the party, contact us so I know how to plan for the party. We would prefer not to have much candy unless packaged to sent home. The children become very excited on party days and don’t need extra sugar. Parents are welcome and needed to join us and spend the day.

FAMILIES FIRST
The Families First Lending Library has been busy! We hope you are enjoying the books. Please remember that your child may not check out another book until their book is brought back. If you loose a book you make replace it with a slightly used , or new book. Look for new Fall and Halloween books.
